Description
Gipsy Moth IV is a 54 ft (16 m) yawl that Sir Francis Chichester commissioned specifically to sail single-handed around the globe, racing against the times set by the clipper ships of the 19th century. Gipsy Moth IV set out from Plymouth on 27 August 1966 with 64-year-old Chichester at the helm and completed the journey on 28 May 1967 having logged 28,500 miles (45,900 km) in just 274 days (226 days actual sailing time). She is seen here docked at Milford Haven during a visit ther in August 2012.
