Description
This 15 foot dragon sculpture by Rhondda sculptor Barry Lewis appeared on the ramparts of Caerphilly Castle in June 2016 as a tribute to the Welsh football team during their journey through the European Championships of 2016 where they reached the semi final only to be knocked out by Portugal.
It was created from around 100 satellite dishes, more than 25 metres of scaffolding poles and 1,500 self tapping screws which would have otherwise ended up in landfill or the scrapyard.
It was nicknamed Gareth The Dragon after Wales and real Madrid football star Gareth Bale.
