Description
Cardiff Bay became host to the 6th act of the Extreme Sailing Series 2013.
The Extreme 40 catamaran measures 40 feet long with 23 foot beam and a mast height of 62 feet. They can reach speeds of up to 75km/h. They are made out of carbon fibre. Team Wales Landrover is seen here 'flying the hull' during which the hull can reach 3 metres out of the water. A crew member can clearly be seen hanging on to the netting between the hulls during this manoeuvre.

Great close up shot. I would imagine that you would have to be pretty strong to handle that boat.
Steve Purnell replied:
Thanks Jo-Anne, this was with my 70-300 at 300mm. They have a crew of six on board so I guess that fitness and agility are paramount especially when they get the hull out of the water like this.

Cool shot...water looks choppy....nice!
Steve Purnell replied:
Thanks Sharon, yes it was the only day of the event where they had reasonable winds.
