Artist's Description
Penarth Pier lies just a few miles west of Cardiff in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales and is the jewel of the crown of this seaside resort. It is situated on the Bristol Channel which has the second highest tidal range in the world. It has been a hugely popular destination for holidaymakers and day trippers since Victorian times and is known as “The Garden by the Sea”

I live in the Rhymney Valley in South East Wales. I like the tones and light feel of the processing here. It suits the scroll-like look of the bench supports and the delicate cut-out look of the railing around the boardwalk. The symmetrical perspective is perfect and I particularly enjoy that the symmetry is quietly interrupted by the buildings in the background.
